Newborn Photographer Bedfordshire: What to Expect From Your Newborn Photography Session

If you're searching for a newborn photographer in Bedfordshire, you're probably wondering what happens during a newborn photography session and how to prepare for those first precious photographs of your baby.

As a newborn photographer based in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, I know that welcoming a new baby can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Between sleepless nights, endless feeds, and adjusting to life as a new family, the thought of preparing for a photoshoot can feel like one more thing on the to-do list.

That's why my newborn sessions are designed to be relaxed, baby-led, and completely stress-free. Here's everything you can expect from your newborn photography session.

When Should I Book My Newborn Session?

The best time to book your newborn session is during your pregnancy, ideally after your 20-week scan.

I pencil in your due date and then, once baby arrives, we'll arrange the exact session date. Most newborn sessions take place within the first 1-3 weeks after birth, when babies are still naturally sleepy and curled up.

That said, if your baby is already a few weeks old, please don't worry. Beautiful photographs can still be captured beyond the newborn stage. For babies aged 5 weeks and older, My First Photoshoot sessions. My First Photoshoot sessions are a wonderful alternative and are designed to capture those first smiles, growing personalities, and precious milestones.

What Should We Bring?

The short answer? Not much!

Before your session, you'll receive a welcome guide packed with everything you need to know, including how to prepare, what to bring, and what to expect on the day. My aim is to make the whole experience as stress-free as possible, so you'll feel fully prepared before you arrive.

I recommend bringing:

  • Extra nappies

  • Bottles if bottle feeding

  • A dummy if baby uses one

  • Any sentimental items you'd like included in your photographs

Most importantly, bring yourselves and be ready to relax. Everything is designed around your baby's needs, and there is plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and comfort breaks throughout the session.

Where Does The Session Take Place?

This is something parents genuinely search for, and it gives you another chance to mention:

In my beautiful home studio in Ickwell, just outside of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.
