As September arrives, there's something that always feels a little special.

The children head back to school, routines begin to settle, the evenings become a little cosier and, before we know it, autumn is in full swing. It's one of my favourite times of year not only because of the beautiful golden light and colourful leaves, but because the studio begins welcoming so many growing families, brand-new babies and returning clients.

This month also marks the start of one of my busiest seasons, with Autumn Mini Sessions just around the corner and only a handful of Christmas Mini Sessions remaining.

You haven't missed your chance for beautiful baby photographs

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is:

"We didn't book newborn photos, so we've missed our opportunity."

Thankfully, that's simply not true.

While newborn photography is perfect for capturing those tiny sleepy details during baby's first few weeks, there are so many incredible milestones still to come throughout their first year.

That's exactly why I offer My Baby's First Photoshoot sessions.

Designed for babies from around 5 weeks through to their first birthday, these sessions celebrate every stage of your little one's first year.

Depending on your baby's age, we might capture:

• Their first beautiful smiles.

• Tiny hands and feet that are growing far too quickly.

• Rolling over for the first time.

• Sitting independently.

• Giggles, curiosity and those gorgeous little personalities beginning to shine through.

Every stage tells another chapter of your baby's story, and each one deserves to be remembered.

When should you book a newborn session?

Another question I'm asked almost every week is:

"Should we wait until the baby's born before booking?"

The answer is actually no.

The best time to book your newborn session is during pregnancy, ideally after your 20-week scan.

Rather than booking an exact session date, I simply reserve space in my diary around your due date. Once your baby arrives, we'll arrange the perfect day together.

Because I only photograph a limited number of newborns each month, booking before your baby arrives helps ensure I can keep enough flexibility for those wonderfully unpredictable arrival dates.

What's happening in the studio this autumn?

September is always a busy month.

As well as welcoming lots of gorgeous newborns and babies into the studio, preparations are well underway for this year's Autumn Mini Sessions.

These sessions are always incredibly popular and offer a relaxed way to update your family photographs surrounded by beautiful autumn colours.

With Autumn Mini Sessions taking place throughout October and Christmas Mini Sessions beginning shortly afterwards, Saturday availability for full sessions becomes much more limited during autumn.

If you're hoping to book a weekend maternity, newborn or family session before Christmas, I'd always recommend getting in touch as early as possible.
